Ron and I inherited a trampoline from some friends for free. We were really excited for 3 reasons: 1: we knew the kids were going to love it!! 2: Ron and I both had a hankering for a refurbishing project. We haven't done one in a year. 3: I have wanted one for the kids and to be honest for Ron and I to play on, but couldn't afford it. They're expensive!
The trampoline was really old and rusting really bad in some spots. Straight away we got to work. The missionaries came over one day looking for service. So we had them sand the whole thing down (that's not the fun part anyway). Then over the next few days we removed the rust and spray painted to from black to hammered Steel color.
Before: I forgot to get a before picture when it was all set up. It was pretty bad. It had rust everywhere! This will give an idea.
After: it took 5 cans of rust remover and spray paint to finish it, and then We bought a new jumping mat and replaced a few of the springs.
We thought the safety pad was okay, but turns out that it was cut off. So now we just need a new safety pad and we will be all set.
Overall we will have spent about 200 replacing it, and saved about 200 bucks because we didn't buy brand new.
Since we put it up the kids have been jumping on it constantly. They love it! I hear laughing and squeals constantly.
Ron told me HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY when it was finished. I am so happy about it because I feel like we have a fun yard now for the kids to play in instead of just grass. We now have a sand box, a swing set, and now a trampoline, and still have plenty of space to do badminton and such.
This sounds weird, but I told/joked with Ron about how I feel like a real legit family now. Because 6 years of marriage, 3 kids, a cat and a fish didn't make me feel that way. I feel like it was a step into a family with little kids and not just a family with babies. I guess it just makes things feel established even though we are still just renting our house and going to school.
