We had a very busy May, and might add memorable and SO MUCH FUN!!! So before I document our big trip out west in a different post; I thought I'd post the first part of May at home in Indy.
2-3: Spending the evening outside flying kites.
4: Hayden playing in his soccer game. He got so confident towards the end with soccer. I am so sad we had to miss the last 2 games. I would have loved to see it grow even more.
All pictures are at our local zoo. We are so lucky to have such a cute zoo just 10 minutes away and it's free!!!
Ron's birthday!!!!
Ron's birthday was a blast. We decided to just have a fun little family party and spent the day together.
The above pictures were at breakfast at a local diner called "the downtowner." It has accidentally become a new tradition to go out for breakfast instead of dinner for Ron's birthday. It was sooooo good and relatively inexpensive for how much good we got. Ron and I got food and we just split it between the four of us, and we still took good home. We'll be going again for sure. The food was amazing.
3-4: that afternoon we pulled out our slip and slide for the first time this year. It was so much fun to soak up the sun and water on such a warm day. We spent a good 2-3 hours playing in the water.
I should also make mention that Ron took Hayden on the bus to go to school for a couple if hours while Grace and I did a few birthday preparations. It made Hayden's entire week. He loved it.
4: gift opening!!! Notice it isn't Ron opening gifts. He had gotten his gifts a week or 2 before. I bought him a tool box and a skil saw. It's what he used to make our sandbox. We decided that since we weren't going to be home for Hayden's birthday that we would celebrate his birthday too on that day because we wouldn't be home for his. We wanted him to know he did get presents even though he didn't open them on his actual special day. We ended up getting him a little game and some tinker toys. The tinker toys to this day are still the most played with loved toy at our house by ALL children that come visit. They are way fun and we will be buying a couple more sets.
3-4: BIRTHDAY CAKE!!!! I didn't have time this year to make Ron's cake plus we were leaving town and didn't want to waste a cake. So this year we got a goldstone "cake and ice cream" cake. It was delicious!!!! And we got to finish it when we got home from our trip cause we could store it in the freezer.
1-2: followed by cake and ice cream, the elders came over and finished our celebrations with a birthday banner and some gospel discussion. We've become great friends with those boys and we love that they live so close.
3: we finally got our garden planted!! We are growing melons, squash, strawberries, lettuce, celery, broccoli, peppers and tomatoes.
4: Mother's Day!!! I got spoiled with breakfast, sleeping in, relief society social hour with cake, Ron made me dinner and let me have a nap. It was a great day!
