The best part about this headboard is that it cost is less than $50 dollars to make. Our funds are extremely limited and we were worried that it would end up costing $100 dollars or more. That is something we just could not justify doing at this time. Ron still wanted me to have something nice so he opted for the 3rd class wood. So there are knots and some are a little crooked or bowed. I love these little characteristics though. It adds so much charm and really gives it that reclaimed headboard look. It isn't over the top.
So I will take you through the process. We do not claim to be carpenters by any means. In fact Ron hand sawed everything. What a hunk!! So please don't judge our methods.
He and the kids drew and colored a happy birthday sign for me.
Just needs to be sanded, stained and sealed. I really like it natural (without the stain) too, but it didn't match our furniture.

I LOVE IT! I'd love more details on how this was put together because I've been dying to make a headboard for us, but it always seems too expensive to try. But $50 is totally manageable!
Caryn I will do a step by step for you. Ron put it together so I will tell him to write it! We were in the same boat! Wanted one but could never afford it!
Yeah! That would be awesome! I just showed this post to Artene with a huge *hint* *hint* look, so hopefully he "gets" it. Haha!
