I think this year's 4th of July was the best We have had in a really long time. It started out by being such a boring plain day. No plans. We wanted to watch some of the fireworks, but Logan is lame and did them on the 3rd instead!
We got a phone call from Ron's Boss, and our good friend Jamie and her little family. They mentioned that they were going to the lake, and wanted us to join them once Hayden was awake from his nap. We were all over it. I hadn't been boating since Hayden was a month old. It was lovely. It felt so amazing to sit in that cold water, and for once not be swollen from head to toe. Hayden was unsure about it some of the time. Mostly because he went to push ron in the water and fell in himself... not good for a little boy with tubes. I felt so bad. Lucky he recovered quickly and was back to pushing Ron into the lake.
Jamie was sweet enough to let hayden "drive the boat." This boy is all business when he gets behind the wheel of something. He just loved being able to drive the boat.
We got home pretty late, but it didn't stop us. We ate a quick dinner, and headed outside to shoot off our little 10 dollar package of fireworks we got and our sparklers. We ended up being outside the same time as our neighbors, and starting to be good friends the Geary's. Our kids love to play together, and we thought it would be a good idea to just combine all our fireworks for one good show for the little ones. Boy did they love it! Hayden was really unsure at first about the sparklers and actually tried to blow them out (pictured below) but once I showed him how it was done he was all over it.
(Seriously when did he become a little boy?)
We let hayden stay up entirely to late, but that is the beauty of a holiday right? After fireworks we thought it only be fitting to cap the night off with ice cream cones. Off we went inside to fill our bellies with deliciousness. Followed by ice cream it was bed time, and not just for the little one either. We were all wiped! It was such a great day.
