The story you've all been waiting for I'm sure...
Well It started out Saturday night I guess. Ron and I came home from the wride's house, and I wasn't feeling well at all. I even noted to Jackie that I thought that I was contracting. I wasn't sure what was going on, as of course I'd never had a kid before. We just went home and started counting contractions. We called my mom around 12:30 at night ask her if she thought it was labor. She told us to just keep monitoring them and see how it goes. I was getting really really really sharp pains across my belly. Finally they stopped, and I was able to sleep.... ha sort of. I was up ever 15-30 minutes because I was cramping so bad. Sunday morning Ron and I went about our normal business. I was feeling a bit better, so we went to church. Around 11:30 in the middle of sacrament meeting I started contracting every 7 minutes apart. We went home after sacrament as I was pretty dang sure the real thing was starting. We went home and just took it easy for a little bit. I called my mom and told her that I was pretty sure it was going to start, and that she needed to start packing her bags. I called the doctor around 1 pm, and told him that I was having contractions every 7-9 minutes apart. He told me to go to the hospital and that they would monitor me to see if I was indeed going into labor. We hurried and through things in a bag (I was sort of packed) then we were off to the hospital. They confirmed that I was indeed contracting about every 4 minutes apart, but when they checked me I was the same from my last doctor's appointment which was 1.5 centimeters dialated. So they told me I should go walk around a bit to see if I would change. So ron and I for the next 2 hours walked for 35-40 minutes then monitored the baby for about 20. We did this from 2 in the afternoon to 8 o clock at night. They checked me twice during that time and I was indeed changing! At 8 o clock they told me I hadn't changed fast enough (I was a 3 at this point) so I could either go home and relax a while or I could stay and keep walking. I opted for home. Nothing sounded better than my bed, a bath, and my big exercise ball (all you prego girls out there need to get one, they're amazing) We called our mom's who were on there way up to rexburg. We were pretty dang sure we were going to have this baby in the next day or so. We got home I and just hung around getting things ready for the mom's to come, and getting all packed to go to the hospital. They got to our house around 1 in the morning. My mom checked me to see how far I was (love have an L&D nurse for a mom) She assured me that I would be admitted. So off to the hospital we went. We got admitted and adjusted and I was given the heavenly epidural. I was going to go natural, and was doing quite well, but I started back labor.... OWIE!!!!! Stephanie met us at the hospital to join the party. Everyone basically slept, but me. I just could n't cause of the buzzy feelings I had in my legs from the medication, and i was shaking like crazy every time i had a contraction. the labor was long and annoying. the doctor came in at 730 and broke my water. I started to push at 11 o clock, and by the time that came around i was so out of cause i was basically running on about 2 hours of sleep in 48 hours, and my epidural was wearing off. The doctor came in at noon, and my little bundle of joy entered the world at 1258. The labor overall was hard. I literally was falling asleep between pushes and woke up when i felt the urge to push, the epidural wore off, I hadn't had anything to eat except for some juice in about 17 hours, and I was so swollen from exhaustion and iv fluids i looked like i weighed 250 lbs. Not kidding Last but not least I got a 2nd degree tear. It was all ver worth it though when he was placed on my belly. It was such a surreal feeling. I couldn't believe 1: that he was actually there in my arms, 2 that ron and I were parents. There is no other feeling like it. I never knew birth could be such a spiritual experience.
Hayden is adjusting to life outside the womb pretty well. He was born posterior or face up so we had a really bad bruise on his head due to his cone head so his bili was high for the first couple of days. He also has a tingue thrust which basically means he pushes his tongue forward so feeding is rather loong and difficult but we've been practicing and he's getting really good aat it. We love our little biy so much. He is such a blessing. I'm so glad heavenly father felt ron and i were worthy enough for such a special beautiful son.
Here are the pictures....
