Bar 10 and all its exciting tales....

So here is my interesting weekend here at the good ol' bar ten.... Lets start with Friday shall we. I got to take some guests to the rim of the canyon as one of the guides, usually the boys do this, but we were short one so I got to do it. We got to the rim, and one of my guests is starting to show signs of heat exhaustion and possibly heat stroke. I took off my shirt tank top on of course and got it wet with ice cold water we had and put it around her neck to keep her body temperature down. She was doing great till we got back to the lodge when she tells me she isn't filling to well and she needed water. I was grabbing the house when I looked over at her and she passed out right there! AH! So I rush over to her quickly and tend to her. Get her wet, and bringing her temperature down and such. It was pretty scary and I had never had to deal with anything like that before. In the end they gave me 15 dollars as a tip for giving up my shirt for the day. Yesterday Shalisse and I were doing dishes when we found out that our two king snakes got loose. We both ran out to catch them, and we found one. Shalisse was looking around and noticed henry the other snake attempting to crawl through a small hole..not a good idea. So we got a closer look and realized the hole was slowly skinning him alive. Needless to say I with a power drill in hand went to work on our nature center and took apart the hole cage with the help of a guest and shalisse. We retrieved the snake alive luckily. Unfortunately on the snakes part he lost a lot of blood and had a good 3-4 inch wound on his belly. Poor thing. So we doctored him up as much as possible. We put him in a cage with a clean sheet and went back to work. Until we got another call that solomon the other snake was out AGAIN! I went out alone this time, and started to talk to one of our river runners about what had happened to poor henry. Turns out there was a world renown vet that had just come off the river. He is known for working with larger exotic animals. He told me he would see what he could do. He looked at henry and told me he needed a sewing needle, heavy fishing line and plyers. I found the items he needed.Yep you guessed it surgery time... and who was his personal assistant? NONE OTHER THAN MYSELF. I never new I would be able to stomach such a process. I held the snake while he sewed, and i ended up tying him shut cause the doctor couldn't see the string very well. It was crazy, and lucky enough our little King Henry is alive in a lot of pain but alive. I have to rub him down with neosporin every 3 or 4 hours. So there are my interesting stories for the week. Never a dull moment at the Bar 10 Ranch. Next weeks big adventure... Maggie's First BLIND DATE! STAY TUNED... coming soon to a tuesday NEAR YOU!
